DO CARPETS GET DIRTY QUICKLY AFTER CLEANING?

Why bother cleaning the carpet

I was cleaning the lounge carpet for a new client in the Allerton (L18) area of Liverpool today.  This lounge is an almost white wool, and the boss of the house is a naughty little Cockapoo dog.

She was puzzled as to why the marks were visible as the dog doesn’t really go in the lounge (she says as he rubs his head into the pile).

After a bit of detective work, I discovered that the client had been using a shop bought carpet stain remover.  This was abundantly clear as I found lots and lots of the cleaning foam that as I went about extracting the marks from the pile.

And here lies the problem – carpets do indeed get dirty quickly once cleaned.  Dirt simply sticks to the shampoo deep within the soft fluffy pile.

It was the sticky carpet cleaning foam that was accentuating the original marks from the dog.

SO HOW CAN WE KEEP OUR CARPETS CLEAN?

Why bother cleaning the carpet

Well, the answer is fairly easy.  Hire a professional carpet cleaner in.

Choose someone that doesn’t use traditional sticky shampoo detergents.  Also, choose a cleaner with good high powered extraction unit.

How can you tell if your chosen tradesman qualifies in the above?

Just do a little research.  If it’s a guy that is running a Facebook advert for example – is carpet cleaning his full-time profession, if not do you think he has invested much into the venture?

Or is he a taxi driver, bin man etc on shifts and fills his days in with carpet cleaning?  These guys are usually cheap as chips and only available on weekends or later in the day.

If your chosen cleaner brings a push along machine into the house as an example, or something like a Vax wet vacuum, politely ask him (or her of course) to leave!

DIRTBUSTERS FREE BOTTLE OF SPOTTER

carpet stain

So as my many customers are aware, once I finish a carpet or sofa clean, I like to leave a complimentary bottle of spotter (stain remover).

This then reduces the chances of what happened in at the top of this post (rapid re-soiling from shop bought cleaners) as my spotter is a more natural and bio degradable solution.

There’s another reason too.  My chances of stain removal any future visits are far greater if my client has used my spotter, as opposed to Vanish (or similar)

FRESH CLEAN CARPETS

So there we have it –  if you have dogs, cats, messy husbands etc you can have clean soft fluffy carpets.  Just get them cleaned yearly in the correct manner.
